Scenic Coastal Tours
Enjoy the stunning Port Stephens coastline with the ocean breeze in your face, amazing views and minimal traffic. Ride along the vast stretches of cycle paths with picturesque coastal views along the way and plenty of local spots to stop for photos and enjoy a coffee or refreshment whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery. From Corlette, Bagnalls Beach, Dutchies Beach, Nelson Bay with an optional stop for a refreshment at the Lighthouse or alternatively a longer ride to Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay depending on your fitness. Shaded riding through bush reserves with plenty of parks, playgrounds and cafes along the way. There is approximately 50km of shared cycleways including 2km, 8km and 12km routes ideal for recreational riding that connect to well maintained BBQ and picnic areas.
National Park Trails
(2-4 hours) – $70 per person / $225 for family of 4+
Ride along the vast stretches of cycle paths with picturesque views along the way then ride through the local bushland and national park trails catered to your level of mountain biking skill and fitness. Enjoy optional strolls to stunning lookouts such as Mount Tomaree with 360 views and long stretches of beautiful beaches or an optional stop for a refreshment up at the Lighthouse. This ride is available for beginner to advanced riders enabling them to discover the beauty of Port Stephens National Parks. Ride through a range of fire trails and single tracks, downhills, good climbs and log jumps whilst listening to the sounds of the local birds and wildlife. If you are lucky you may see kangaroos, goannas, parrots, kookaburras or koalas. The ride route can change but will include a wide variety of fire trails and single tracks weaving through the national park with plenty of opportunities for snacks, photos and to absorb the beautiful scenery. (1-2 hours) – $12 pp own bike / $20 pp with bike hire
Regular weekly mountain bike sessions available for beginner and intermediate riders looking for some fun, encouragement and to improve their fitness and riding skills. Tailored to your specific needs this would include a variety of hills, downhill, technique training, sprints or long distance. Includes a Bay Loop ride, approximately 20kms. Ladies only sessions also available. Ideal for locals!
Group passes of 10 sessions are available for $100 if utilising your own bike or $160 with bike hire.
(half day) – $100 per person
Half day training and skills sessions available for beginner and intermediate riders. Beginner sessions will include bike checks and basic set up with a qualified mechanic, positioning on the bike, rider technique and front and rear lifts. The intermediate sessions are designed to include more technically challenging rides encountering more difficult obstacles and terrain.
Rain or shine, our tours usually operate unless weather conditions are extreme. A safety briefing will be conducted prior to each ride.Tours operate daily, with flexible booking times generally available.
We provide quality Specialized Rockhopper Comp bikes and Specialized helmets or alternatively customers are welcome to use their own bikes. The Rockhopper is a time-tested trail riding hardtail built for cruising fire roads and slicing through singletrack. A quick inspection of all bikes and helmets will be completed by a qualified bike mechanic prior to any ride to ensure it meets basic safety standards.
What to bring
A professional, highly experienced and passionate tour guide will accompany you with opportunities for swimming and cooling off at the beach if desired. We suggest bringing a small light backpack to carry personal items, cool and comfortable riding clothes, enclosed shoes (compulsory), a camera to capture some amazing memories, sunglasses and sunscreen, bathers/swimmers, a light towel (optional) and a sense of fun and adventure (plus any medications, allergy/epi-pens or asthma inhalers, etc). There will be plenty of opportunities to stop off at local venues for drinks and snacks and water will also be provided.
Tours depart from and return to the start of the Bartlett Cycleway at the far left car park of Bagnalls Beach Reserve (when facing the water). Directions: From Port Stephens Visitor Information Centre at 60 Victoria Parade, Nelson Bay 2315 it is approximately 2.9 kms or 5 minutes. Head South West on Victoria Parade, go straight through all roundabouts following the coast (on your right hand side) along onto Government Road, through the Bagnalls Beach roundabout and onto Sandy Point Road. Car park is opposite the intersection of 2 Sandy Point Road and Pantowora Street, Corlette 2315, adjacent to the childrens playground area. It is 600 metres on the right past Bagnalls Beach Roundabout and 300 metres before Corlette Store on the left. Corlette store is close by if customers would like to purchase refreshments before or after the ride and public transport links are also accessible to this location.
